You’ve had an accident, now what? Here
are the answers to some questions you might have.
Q: Do I need to get 3 estimates?
A: NO. There is no law that requires you
to get more than 1 estimate.
Q: My insurance company wants me to take
the car to one of their preferred shops, do I have any choice?
A: While it is common practice in the
industry today for insurance companies to direct you to shops they have
contracts with; it is YOU who decides where your car is repaired. While
A&R Collision does have direct repair relations with some insurance
companies we can work with any company you might have.
Q: The insurance company told me I would
have to pay extra if I don’t use the shop they recommend. Is this
true?
A: FALSE. Some companies use scare tactics
to steer vehicle owners to shops of their choosing. Steering is illegal
and insurance companies know it. Still some adjusters will use creative
wording to make the owner think they have no choice. Again you have
the right to have your vehicle repaired at the shop of your choice.
Q : The insurance company told me they
would guarantee the repairs as long as I own the vehicle if I take the
vehicle to their shop. Does A&R Collision guarantee their work?
A: YES. We at A&R Collision also
offer the same guarantee.
Q : Will the vehicle be as good as before
the accident?
A: We will take every precaution to provide
you with the best repair available in the industry today. We have the
best technicians who take great pride in their work. We have had many
customers tell us the dealer could not tell where their car was repaired
when the time came to trade it in for a new vehicle.
Q:Will my paint match?
A: All repairs are different. We
have the latest in paint technology and materials. In most cases we
can tint and or blend the paint to the adjacent panels for a perfect
match. We will also remove any trim and door handles so there is no
tapeline. However, in some very extreme cases, older vehicles with severely
faded paint may not match perfectly. We will let the customer know the
options on how to make the best repairs in these rare situations. We
will be honest as to what is possible and what is not.
Q The car is totaled if the frame is bent, right?
A: Not necessarily. While most vehicles are of a unitized
construction and not a full frame design we can restore the vehicle
to factory specifications however the design.
However some newer vehicles have hydro-formed frame rails with crush
zones designed into them. It is possible, depending on the damage that
the frame would have to be replaced on these vehicles.
